Betty's Birthday Card

It was my friend's birthday on the 19th and I made her this card and gave her a Birthday Box to keep track of her grand kid's birthdays. She is a wonderful friend. Hope she had a great day.

I decided to put some more pictures on the blog of the Halloween Box to show you. Thanks for looking.

Silk purse from a sow's ear.

We have a friend who casts silver, and buys silver in bulk. The silver comes in some round containers with handles. They are not in any way pretty , and only marginally useful when he is done with them.

This is what I did to make one of them fun for Halloween.

You can see in the second picture that I wrapped the handle with seam binding and decorated the edges.

The third picture shows the box with the lid on. The side is covered with orange craft paper, and then decorated with halloween figures from my Cricut machine: French Manor, Paper Doll Dress Up, George, Storybook, Pumpkin Carving and A Child's Year cartridges. The tag doesn't show up in the picture so we added a picture of it at the top. It was done with Pumpkin Carving. There are also some orange ribbons tied on each side of the handles.

On the top I added embellishments from a dollar store and a spare knob from a cabinet project. The fringe is intertwined Halloween orange and gold, also from a dollar store.

When it was done I filled it with apples and candy and took it back to him. He and his employees loved it! He gave me more to decorate, but I will probably move on to Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thanks for looking. Happy Halloween.

We traded 9 quilt blocks with friends and relatives. When I saw my daughter Patti's wall hanging she had added 3 more blocks to make it larger. Her's was so cute that I made more blocks to go on mine as well. It was really fun to sew again and I really like how it turned out. It also adds some color to my huge window. I sewed number 1, 3, 4, and 5. Candi's is number 6. Annelise's is number 7. Patti's is number 8. Amy's is number 10. I think that Diana's is number 11. I don't know who did the rest. I had some scraps left over so I am making some Halloween hot pads. I will show you a picture of them when they are finished. Walt helped me with the rivets that I did on number 4 to hold the word Dark in place. I also gave some of the blocks some more bling. Hope you like it. Please let me see yours when you get it done. Thanks Patti for a fun project.
